At Savannah we believe that safe food is a fundamental right of any consumer, which means that every supplier in the food chain has an obligation to provide safe food to all.
Increasing consumer awareness, globalisation and the demand for safe food, have led the food industry to implement effective food safety management systems – and rightly so!
Various standards have been developed by different countries and organizations, but since food industry leaders created GFSi (Global Food Safety Initiative) in 2000, it eliminated the need for audit duplication and ensured that everyone is on the same page, so to speak.
At Savannah, it was a natural transition to integrate a Food Safety System with our established ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System, and thus we recently completed a FSA® Intertek audit, which is modelled on the GFSi Benchmarking Requirements, version 7.2.
Savannah’s goal is to have a fully integrated ISO quality system – which would include Food Safety certification through a recognized GFSI certification programme.
